3 Quick Reviews
January 6th, 2009Revolutionary Road starring Leonardo DiCaprio and the beautiful Kate Winslet argue with each other for two hours in this Sam Mendes directed pic that poses the questions, What is a couple to do live out their dreams? Or live out their suburban family life? Two great performances don't equal a great movie, nor does some good direction. What looks and feels like a long episode of Mad Men, RR never gets the viewer hooked with what will happen next. All we get are arguments and decisions to tear a some what perfect marriage apart. C
Gran Torino has Clint Eastwood working overtime as a Director, Producer, Actor and he even sings the title song. More than a movie about a car, Eastwood plays a racist mean old Korean war vet living in a Korean neighborhood. Who befriends his Korean neighbors because they have beer!! You know old vets can put the racism on hold for a nice cold one. When a Korean gang tangles with the ol' Dirty Harry guns get loaded and fingers get pointed in this touching, funny, entertaining movie. Some of the movie had a after school special look to it and some parts are heavy on the cheese but in the end its a good movie, not great but good.B-
The Wrestler introduces us to Randy "The Ram" Robinson played brillantly by Mickey Rourke. A past his prime wrestler dealing with his battered career as well as his battered life outside the ring. No other actor could of done this role as good or better than Mickey Rourke, a definite Oscar worthy performance. Darren Aronofsky's direction or under-direction makes this movie feel like a raw smackdown of a movie.A
Times (RAP)
December 12th, 2008Where you been Mr. Blogger the world has been waiting,
The year is almost over 2008 is escaping.
Know more people losing their jobs than getting new ones,
How can there be Christmas when there are no new funds.
How much longer do we keep going, acting like it's ok?
Bailouts are the only answer the Feds give us to keep us straight.
But the truth is we are all running a stray,
Sacrificing everything just to make it day to day.
Money is evaporating, soon there will be no stock trading,
Regular people have nothing, Rich people downgrading.
Gas prices going down but no one is going anywhere,
Great time for war cause people starting really not to care.
Foreclosure on my neighbors they had to move out of Washington,
Now if I run out of sugar who am I gonna borrow it from?
No Bailout for me, no bailout for you
Post office keeps giving me notices that say overdue.
Its gonna be worse before it gets better
This world is pretty cold I'm never taking off my sweater.
So what shall we do when the soup kitchen's full?
Its kinda like running out of water and having a nice pool.
So jump in with the sharks and start to act real vicious,
And pray to god that your not a lil fish that's delicious.
My wrist watch tells me that these are the times,
My television tells me that these are the times,
My government tells me that these are the times,
I think I liked it better when I was being pumped full of lies..
I'll miss ya George W. thanks for the hole
Why dont you throw more dirt while you still have control.
You can bury me alive but you will not take my soul,
or my Lucky Charms that are floating in my cereal bowl.

Random Thoughts
October 15th, 2008Janet Jackson's sick? No kidding look who she married!
Madonna is divorcing Guy Ritchie just in time to hook up and bring down Britney Spears again.
Television ratings don't lie, So it's ok to look at Cloris Leachman's cleavage in Hi-Def twice a week.
Sarah Palin stopped in to a Wal-Mart in Gallipolis, I guess she was brushing up on her Foreign Affair Policies.
Nancy Regan hospitalized with a broken pelvis, sounds like she is having fun without Ronald around.
I am now changing my vote to McCain because he is getting rid of taxes on unemployment benefits and doubling the child tax credit. That sounds like my future, unemployed with child.
Television Strikes Back
September 22nd, 2008Finally the Fall season is amongst us and television has shows coming on that are worth watching! Monday Heroes and Dancing With The Stars begin. This year we have Brooke Burke and Kim Kardashian in Hi-Def dancing their way to the top three because I tell you now if they get kicked off in the first couple of weeks Im not hanging around to watch Lance Bass stay Nsync with the competition. Heroes looks interesting this year which would be the total opposite of last year. The promos look like the creators have pitted all the characters against each other and are calling the season VILLAINS. What I don't understand is in the first two seasons the heroes haven't defeated one villain. So lets make a season where they all turn in to villains? That sounds cool, good looking freaks with powers VS good looking marines. It could be Band of Brothers VS The X-Men. Tuesday, Opportunity Knocks premiers, a game show that brings the game show to your house. How well do you know your family? I think the fathers are going to be the ones to fail on this one, cant wait to see dad look so out of touch. Oh wait a minute I get that every time I go see my own father. Wednesday, Knight Rider gets a retooling of some kind. My opinion, no way this sticks around for a full season. David Blaine has a new magic/withstand torture special coming on! Its always fun to watch him destroy his body and say things like "that's not magic" or "I can do that". You know things you'd never say while watching David Copperfield. Thursday is Survivor and this year its in HD which with all the bug bites, skimpy clothes, ribs showing from starvation should make this year super nasty to watch! Mad Men is in the middle of its superb second season, Entourage is back in the swing of things as well. That's all I got not, much but did you read at the beginning, BROOKE BURKE and KIM KARDASHIAN in HD!!!!!!! Thank you
Through The Eyes of My Pregnant Wife
July 25th, 2008Never knew how hard nine months would be to survive
Looking through the eyes of my pregnant wife
My clothes don’t fit, no foods in the house
My ankles have walked away on some other route
My gums don’t stop bleeding every time I’m flossing
Every argument has turned into me venting or bossing
It’s so hot, my clothes sticking to my belly
I wonder do people see me or just my belly, would you even tell me
If I was going crazy, cause lack of sleep almost has me there
Alarm in the morning going off but I don’t care
Everybody having fun and I’m not, that’s not fair
Wish I could pull this baby out, put him in you, so we could share
How we going to afford anything when he gets here
On top of that it’s painful to even look in the mirror
When he comes out I get vacation lets make that clear
Just me, a bottle of wine and a six pack of beer!!!!!
Y’all can have this fat suit I’m outta here.
My wife has amazed me through this whole pregnancy. As tough as pregnancy is mentally and physically she pushes on through with a positive attitude. When she can come home and have an attitude about anything and everything, she chooses not to. When everything is overwhelming she doesn’t break down or shut me out. She never lashes out at me, when I know she wants to. And she has never stopped doing all the little things around the house. During the pregnancy I have realized that she can take on anything in life and conquer it, and not only that, I realize how great of a mother she will be.
The Two W's
June 30th, 2008Hollywood always has this way of grouping movies together and last weekend it was two W's that attacked moviegoers. Wanted and Wall-E, two movies totally different from each other linked to the same opening weekend and the W.
Wanted - A group of assassins who read fabric to tell them who to hit. Is a rated R action pic that slows down to go backwards and come back at you full speed. Did I lose you? Ok, sorry bout that, Angelina Jolie trains James McAvoy to unleash the inner assassin in him and kill the one guy no one can kill. Sounds like one killer time and it kinda is. Not as great as I wanted it to be but still pretty cool. Lost between The Matrix and Shoot 'em Up Wanted has a story thats not too bad. So I say good attempt Timbor Bekmambetov. I would like some more please! B-
Wall-E - A movie about a robot left behind, has more human heart in it than most Hollywood productions. A love story for the ages has our hero, Wall-E a robot trained to turn our waste into buildings, keeps on trucking as the last robot on earth. Until that is a spaceship comes out of the sky and changes the life of Wall-E forever. Easily one of the best movies of the year Wall-E is another notch in the belt for Pixar and the masterpieces they turn out. A
Plastic is out
June 30th, 2008We are a little extreme, to put it lightly, but we are proud to say that plastic is out of our home! For years now there has been an ongoing argument about BPA or bisphenol A, the chemical that makes plastic hard and shatterproof. It is said that BPA leaches from your plastic containers into your beverage or food. As a result of digesting the chemical scientist report that small amounts of BPA could be linked to health and developmental problems. Those problems include early puberty, changes in the prostate gland and behavioral changes found in animal studies that warranted "some concern" for exposure to fetuses, infants and children. (Wall Street Journal, MELANIE TROTTMAN, 6/11/08) I know, I know the FDA say it is safe, but we won't even go there... If you're not going to try to go without plastic, at least consider alternatives. Look for BPA free plastic, don't heat food or beverages in plastic. We use glass or stainless steel containers. Foogo sippy cups, SIGG bottles, and Klean Kateen are among my favorites. You can find all of these at www.reusablebags.com. When possible we remove food from there plastic containers and store them in glass. We have found they last longer! If I send my kids to school with a warm up, such as soup, pasta or left overs from the night before for their lunch I put it in a glass bowl that has a BPA free lid.
If we want a change, we need to start with what we are putting into our bodies and that means what we eat, drink, breath, read, and hear. Be the change! Right?!!!
Free Range should be our right to think free, choose natural and promote good healthy bodies.
