Through The Eyes of My Pregnant Wife

July 25th, 2008

Never knew how hard nine months would be to survive
Looking through the eyes of my pregnant wife
My clothes don’t fit, no foods in the house
My ankles have walked away on some other route
My gums don’t stop bleeding every time I’m flossing
Every argument has turned into me venting or bossing
It’s so hot, my clothes sticking to my belly
I wonder do people see me or just my belly, would you even tell me
If I was going crazy, cause lack of sleep almost has me there
Alarm in the morning going off but I don’t care
Everybody having fun and I’m not, that’s not fair
Wish I could pull this baby out, put him in you, so we could share
How we going to afford anything when he gets here
On top of that it’s painful to even look in the mirror
When he comes out I get vacation lets make that clear
Just me, a bottle of wine and a six pack of beer!!!!!
Y’all can have this fat suit I’m outta here.

My wife has amazed me through this whole pregnancy. As tough as pregnancy is mentally and physically she pushes on through with a positive attitude. When she can come home and have an attitude about anything and everything, she chooses not to. When everything is overwhelming she doesn’t break down or shut me out. She never lashes out at me, when I know she wants to. And she has never stopped doing all the little things around the house. During the pregnancy I have realized that she can take on anything in life and conquer it, and not only that, I realize how great of a mother she will be.

The Two W's

June 30th, 2008

Hollywood always has this way of grouping movies together and last weekend it was two W's that attacked moviegoers. Wanted and Wall-E, two movies totally different from each other linked to the same opening weekend and the W.

Wanted - A group of assassins who read fabric to tell them who to hit. Is a rated R action pic that slows down to go backwards and come back at you full speed. Did I lose you? Ok, sorry bout that, Angelina Jolie trains James McAvoy to unleash the inner assassin in him and kill the one guy no one can kill. Sounds like one killer time and it kinda is. Not as great as I wanted it to be but still pretty cool. Lost between The Matrix and Shoot 'em Up Wanted has a story thats not too bad. So I say good attempt Timbor Bekmambetov. I would like some more please! B-

Wall-E - A movie about a robot left behind, has more human heart in it than most Hollywood productions. A love story for the ages has our hero, Wall-E a robot trained to turn our waste into buildings, keeps on trucking as the last robot on earth. Until that is a spaceship comes out of the sky and changes the life of Wall-E forever. Easily one of the best movies of the year Wall-E is another notch in the belt for Pixar and the masterpieces they turn out. A

Plastic is out

June 30th, 2008

Link: http://www.newsday.com/services/newspaper/printedition/thursday/news/ny-bzplas125723738jun12,0,6367179.story

We are a little extreme, to put it lightly, but we are proud to say that plastic is out of our home! For years now there has been an ongoing argument about BPA or bisphenol A, the chemical that makes plastic hard and shatterproof. It is said that BPA leaches from your plastic containers into your beverage or food. As a result of digesting the chemical scientist report that small amounts of BPA could be linked to health and developmental problems. Those problems include early puberty, changes in the prostate gland and behavioral changes found in animal studies that warranted "some concern" for exposure to fetuses, infants and children. (Wall Street Journal, MELANIE TROTTMAN, 6/11/08) I know, I know the FDA say it is safe, but we won't even go there... If you're not going to try to go without plastic, at least consider alternatives. Look for BPA free plastic, don't heat food or beverages in plastic. We use glass or stainless steel containers. Foogo sippy cups, SIGG bottles, and Klean Kateen are among my favorites. You can find all of these at www.reusablebags.com. When possible we remove food from there plastic containers and store them in glass. We have found they last longer! If I send my kids to school with a warm up, such as soup, pasta or left overs from the night before for their lunch I put it in a glass bowl that has a BPA free lid.
If we want a change, we need to start with what we are putting into our bodies and that means what we eat, drink, breath, read, and hear. Be the change! Right?!!!
Free Range should be our right to think free, choose natural and promote good healthy bodies.

Excel files mysteriously reverting to old versions of themselves

June 22nd, 2008

I had a client that about every six months would report that their current and very important financial Excel files would revert to versions days or months old. They insisted that they only had one copy of the file of the file server and none on their local machines. AutoRecovery in Office and specifically in Excel was the culprit. Heavy users of Excel would report this more often because they would open multiple instances of excel.exe and this would lead to strange behaviours and crashes which would then cause AutoRecovery to act strangely.

A couple of questions came to mind as I researched this. Why has it only affected Excel files and where is it pulling the old data from if there is only one copy of the Excel file on the server?

See the stories of all the people with the same issue below.

----------------------

Story 5.

Also, notice the issue of opening multiple instances of Excel. Not sure if you use Excel like this but opening more than one excel.exe instance causes trouble with the AutoRecovery feature in Excel. You can only safely open one instance of Excel. See here.

http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/673281-excel-autorecover-issue-2003-a.html

"AutoRecover and multiple instances of Excel When more than one instance of Excel is running and one instance closes unexpectedly, a new instance of Excel is automatically started and the AutoRecover files are opened. If all instances of Excel close unexpectedly, but the computer is still running, a single instance of Excel is started and all AutoRecover files are opened. In the case of a power outage, all recovered files are opened when you start Excel again."

----------------------

Excel 2003: The Missing Manual

Read pages 46 - 48 on how AutoRecovery works and is enabled by default.

http://books.google.com/books?id=v2fi86XfKiwC&pg=PA48&lpg=PA48&dq=%22it+looks+for+AutoRecover+backups%22&source=web&ots=TZhfUnrDeR&sig=mhc1lS9u_2x2f6BZVxG4PEQmjTQ&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result

---------------------

"Disable AutoRecovery In Excel

Excel automatically saves your work every few minutes. This is referred to as the Autorecovery feature and it is included in other Office applications. Autorecovery is designed to prevent loss of work from power outages, application errors, and so on but has proved very buggy especially in Excel. The AutoRecover option is annoying because you are unable to modify the spreadsheet while the file is being saved."

To disable the AutoRecover feature in Excel 2003:

1. Open Excel.
2. From the Tools menu, click Options
3. In the Options dialog box click the Save tab.
4. Under the Workbook Options, check the Disable AutoRecover option.
5. Click OK.

The Happening

June 15th, 2008

M. Night Shyamalan makes movies like a magician. You expect to be suprised, bewildered, and amazed at each attempt he makes to entertain us. His name alone will draw people to the movies as if it were some magic act on the Vegas Strip. When the act is revealed the crowd will pick apart the magic act in ways to show how fake the man behind the mask is. Tear down the man before tearing down the movie. Well finally I get it, M. Night Shyamalan is the movie so if you do tear the movie apart you are tearing him apart. In this movie there are mistakes by the writer M. Night Shyamalan, mistakes by the producer M. Night Shyamalan, and mistakes by the Director M. Night Shyamalan. So how do you not criticize him while criticizing his movie?

The Happening is a movie that has Donnie Wahlberg on the run from the wind cause the wind will make him want to blow himself away. So run Donnie run and make facial expressions like you are confused, scared and worried no one in the crowd is enjoying this.

I love this guy M. Night Shyamalan though and I am always hoping he can once again get me the way he did with Bruce Willis in that totally awesome Sixth Sense. And when the next movie comes out of his, you bet I'll be there to see it disappointed or not. But come on man, STEP YOUR GAME UP. D

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

June 1st, 2008

Narnian's Prepare For Glory, as Prince Caspian walks over to his evil King Uncle, This Is NARNIA. Im sorry, silly me going on here about nothing. OK here we go. Here is another two hour twenty minute movie with 90 minutes of story. The action scenes are a PG version of Lord of the Rings and 300. The acting is the only thing better than the original. But if your taking your child to movies all the time this might not be to bad. If your a child being took to the movies this movie is pretty good. If your like me, I understand that.C+

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

June 1st, 2008

Indiana Jones has always been a bigger than life hero on the big screen. Growing up the best made action movies were the Indiana Jones movies and its no suprise when the two best movie makers ever, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas created them. This collabo is a sure fire hit with action and effects and once again they deliver. Chase scene after chase scene the camera work mixed with the special effects make thrilling, unreal and unbelievable action sequences look convincing to the eye. The low point of this movie is its story starting at Area 51 and ending in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. After watching this movie maybe its time we all accept the fact that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are aliens. No one else can come up with what they do, their skills are magical alien powers. They pass off bad stories with kick-ass effects that make you stop thinking about plot and acting and focus more on the action sequences. OK now I know not all their movies are like that but just a thought. Unlike the Rocky movies the fourth installment of Indiana Jones is probably the worst, I liked the movie and was highly entertained for 3/4 of it. As a movie lover I wish Spielberg & Lucas would put a different movie out every year. But you guys dont need to keep running over the two hour mark. B-

What's So Wrong With Speed Racer?

May 14th, 2008

Speed Racer was a bad cartoon and I'm not talking about Michael Jackson Bad, I mean bad as in not good. It was Japanamation all the way but the racing was cool. Now the Wachowski brothers take a stab at making this bad cartoon into an entertaning family film, and entertaining it is. I have to give respect to the brothers for going balls out and making such a physcidelic film. True to the material and visually stunning (Lasik might be needed after watching) the Wachowski's have made a new world to film movies in and it is as cool as The Matrix was. Now not expecting much from this movie (because I've seen the cartoon) I really enjoyed it. The in your face, I hope you had your medicine, throw everything at the screen aproach fit fir this summer popcorn flick.

I'm Back!!!!

May 14th, 2008

Turnstreet's favorite blogger is back. It's been over a month since I've been down this street but I'm happy to be back. I had all these lucrative offers coming in from everywhere and I had to sit down and ponder these things. After a minute or so of pondering I decided Turnstreet is the only home for me. So let's get to it.

I have this friend in the biz that got a job on that new movie Twilight which was filming in Oregon. Anyway my boy was all over the main actress Kristen Stewart, oops excuse me, I mean they became friends and I am very proud of this guy. You go boy! Kristen Stewart is hott!

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey? Who doesn't like little black boys and older white women?

I got my Kanye West tickets and I am ready to glow in the dark. It's funny that the tour is called The Glow In The Dark Tour because with all white people in the audience of course the tour will glow.

GTA is calling my name so like my kitty do CHOW!
